Will talk: Grumman Corp. said its directors authorized the defense contractor to enter into discussions with Northrop Corp. about a possible takeover. The aircraft-maker, which has bid $2.04 billion for Grumman, wants to buy the company out from under its intended merger partner, Martin Marietta Corp. Northrop made an unsolicited offer March 10 of $60 a share for Grumman, topping the $55-a-share offer Grumman accepted from Martin Marietta earlier.
