The Wheaton City Council on Monday night gave City Manager Donald B. Rose a 2.2 percent raise, boosting his annual pay to $107,750.
Rose, 50, is one of the highest-paid municipal chiefs in DuPage County, in part because he has served in his post since 1980 but also because of the strong performance reviews he has received in recent years. City employees averaged a 3 percent increase in pay this year.
“Overall, his evaluation was very strong,” said Mayor C. James Carr, who noted that the City Council gave Rose a score of greater than 8 on a scale of 1 to 9.
“He looks out for the best interest of the city, and he keeps the staff and the City Council informed. He continues to do an outstanding job,” Carr added.
The City Council also approved increasing the salary of Assistant City Manager Mike Dzugan to $81,000 in the coming fiscal year.
