Jeannine Smith, 32, of Lake in the Hills, has been named one of this year’s recipients of the Illinois Jaycees Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award.
Smith is chairwoman of the Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Board, sits on the board of the Crystal Lake/Cary League of Woman Voters, is a member of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Jaycees and has served on the board of the McHenry County Chapter of Formerly Employed Mothers at the Leading Edge.
Smith’s most notable accomplishment was starting the Lake in the Hills Committee to Form a Park District.
The referendum failed, but her efforts did lead the village to establish a Parks and Recreation Committee.
