Olympic organizers in Nagano, Japan, must have been breathing a little easier after a major snowfall last Tuesday. It was the first big fall of the season in what has been a way-mild winter so far. If you’re wondering what’s the prob with a warm, snow-free winter, imagine Winter Games, with such sports as downhill and cross-country skiing, without snow!

If there isn’t enough snow by the time of the Games (Feb. 7-22), workers will truck in snow and use snowmaker machines.
