What better accessory to bridge this season’s fashions than a sensible watch made of stainless steel? Designers are finding that steel has an exceptionally high style quotient.
“It has a sleek, sophisticated look that’s modern and interesting,” says Calvin Klein, who makes his aptly named Icon watch out of the stuff. As clean and lean as his clothes, Klein’s scrupulously pared-down timepiece is an elegant version of the quintessential sportswatch, and a contemporary “icon” indeed.
Other designers also have applied their signatures to watches, such as the Chanel quilt or the Gucci buckle.
But best of all, notes Klein, these new stainless steel watches “are durable and versatile enough to be worn everywhere”–and with everything.
