The bidding wars at the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs’ 12th annual auction netted $11,300–double the funds the group expected to raise for college scholarships.
The funds from its biggest auction yet will be passed on to 12 graduating seniors and former District 54 students at a ceremony May 13.
Each scholarship, which includes some funds from local PTA chapters, will total $1,500. One will go to a special education student, seven to seniors bound for four-year colleges and four for seniors heading to community colleges.
About 400 items hit the auction block, including two tickets for a Bulls game that sold for $375.
