Borg-Warner Automotive Inc. said it signed a letter of intent to sell its powder metal connecting-rod business to GKN Sinter Metals Inc. of Auburn Hills, Mich. A definitive agreement has yet to be negotiated. GKN Sinter Metals is a subsidiary of GKN PLC of Britain. Borg-Warner Automotive’s connecting-rod business, based in Romulus, Mich., has 325 employees.
