McWhorter Technologies Inc., a paint-ingredients maker, said it will eliminate 40 jobs as it closes its Chicago Heights factory to save about $2.8 million a year. The Carpentersville-based chemicals company said it will take a fourth-quarter pretax charge of $4.8 million for shutting the plant and $2.5 million to write down the value of a joint venture in Thailand. Production will be shifted to Columbus, Ga.
