Investigators said Friday they were searching for several suspects in connection with a fire that seriously injured two men in a vacant house in Round Lake Park.
Firefighters from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded to neighbors’ 911 calls to a vacant, single-family home in the 100 block of East Washington Drive Tuesday night, according to Round Lake Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Bill Swift.
Swift said two men seriously injured in the fire were airlifted from the fire scene, one to the burn unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, the other to the unit at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Round Lake Fire Chief Paul Maplethorpe said that evidence at the scene indicated that the fire had been set, but declined to elaborate.
