City officials and industry representatives have reached a compromise on a measure that would crack down on unsanitary restaurants. Instead of posting a copy of their most recent health inspection at the main entrance, as in the original proposal, restaurateurs would be required to post the display “in an area visible to all customers.”
Instead of barring a restaurateur whose license has been revoked from applying for a new license for five years, the amended measure cuts the waiting time to three years.
A key provision of the original ordinance that classifies violations as “critical,” “serious” or “minor” remains.
The City Council’s License Committee is expected to consider the proposal at a meeting on Monday.
