New York Knicks swingman Latrell Sprewell, out for three weeks with an injured heel, was cleared to play Friday night in Milwaukee.
Sprewell, acquired in January from the Golden State Warriors for John Starks, Chris Mills and Terry Cummings, played in only two games for the Knicks–both losses–before being diagnosed with a stress fracture of the right heel. He is averaging 14.5 points.
– All-Star center Jayson Williams of New Jersey will continue to play with an injured left thumb despite ligament damage that will have to be repaired surgically, the team said Friday.
