Rodney King, whose videotaped beating by Los Angeles police triggered riots in 1992, was arrested Friday on charges that he beat his 16-year-old daughter and her mother, police said.

King, 33, was booked for investigation of spousal battery, child abuse and vandalism. He was released after posting $6,850 bail, officials said.

An arrest warrant charges that King committed the assault on Jan. 31 at a home in Fontana, east of Los Angeles. Police responded to the disturbance but did not arrest King at that time.

Police said they did not know whether the woman was King’s former wife or girlfriend.
