The Rolling Meadows Plan Commission on Wednesday night recommended that the city change its zoning code to allow Pro Med Paramedic Service of Grayslake to lease office space and store ambulances in a manufacturing zone.

The ambulance company asked the city to amend its M-1 zoning district ordinance to allow the ambulance service because vehicle storage is similar to uses by other companies in such districts.

Pro Med plans to have three ambulances and 17 employees in a 9,100-square-foot office-warehouse building at 4170 Winnetka Ave.

In other action, plan commissioners decided to support televising their once-a-month meetings over the local cable network.

The council chambers have been outfitted with three remotely operated cameras, two 27-inch TV monitors, a console and other equipment. Media One donated $80,000 in TV equipment under its cable-franchise agreement with the city.
