A West Side man was fatally shot early Tuesday as he sat behind the wheel of his car at a stoplight a few blocks from the spot where his 15-year-old brother died from gunfire in June.
Antwon Britton, 20, of the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue, was stopped at Chicago and Hamlin Avenues when someone approached and fired several rounds into his car, striking Britton in the chest, said Harrison Area Sgt. Robert Stasch.
In June his younger brother Cornelius, also of the Harding Avenue address; and Rufus Conner, 24, of the 1000 block of North Springfield Avenue, were shot to death outside a coin laundry in the 900 block of North Pulaski Road. Two others were injured in that shooting.
It is unknown if the two events are connected, police said. No arrests have been made.
Antwon Britton apparently drove a short distance after being shot, then crashed into a parked car and a fence, said Detective Mike Miller.
