Am I the only one who thinks that Russell Yates (the husband of Andrea Yates, the Texas woman who drowned her five children) should be tried as an accessory to murder? He ignored obvious warnings, left his children in his wife’s care when he knew she was suffering depression, neglected to make sure that she was treated and apparently was more interested in having as many children as they could without regard to her health, both mental and physical, or the lives of children. If she were a diabetic or asthmatic, we would expect him to make sure she got all the medical care that she needed. The same should be true of her mental health.
