An 80-year-old woman died Monday of injuries suffered when she and her husband were allegedly beaten by their son.

Amatine Outlaw, of the 10400 block of South Prairie Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:50 p.m. in the University of Chicago Hospitals, according to a Cook County medical examiner’s office spokesman.

Her husband, Hasting Outlaw, 79, remains in critical condition, said hospital spokeswoman Catherine Gianaro.

The couple’s son, Darren Outlaw, 33, was charged with aggravated battery to a senior citizen and is being held in Cook County Jail on $1 million dollar bond for the Nov. 9 beating.

Police say Darren Outlaw beat his parents in their beds after a quarrel. Charges had not been upgraded to murder as of late Monday.
