About 1,500 people in Ivory Coast marched Saturday in a funeral procession for a well-known entertainer and opposition figure who many suspect was killed in a government-backed assassination.
The mourners surrounded a gray hearse containing the body of Ash Karamoko Kamara, who was found dead last weekend.
Saturday’s march was the latest in two weeks of riots and mass protests in Abidjan. Most have been by government loyalists, angry at a French-brokered peace deal they see as giving too much to rebels behind Ivory Coast’s 4-month-old civil war.
On Friday night, President Laurent Gbagbo delivered an address that called on all sides to support the peace deal reached outside Paris.
