Producers of the stage hit “Late Nite Catechism” are in the habit of passing the collection basket to fund nuns’ retirement needs, to the tune of about $1 million over a decade.

When the comedy reaches Arlington Heights next week, a local order will be the recipient of the largesse.

The Sisters of the Living Word needs another $2,000 to buy a disabled-accessible van. The show’s producer thinks filling the kitty will be no problem.

It’s all a way of repaying the sisters, who as a group universally need more retirement funds, said Vicki Quade, the show’s co-creator and co-writer.

“Here they raised us, taught us. It’s what the nuns drilled into us, subliminally, to help others,” Quade said.

The show runs Thursdays through Sundays May 8 to 18 at Metropolis Performing Art Centre, 111 W. Campbell St., Arlington Heights. Call 847-577-2121.
