Elastica
The Radio One Sessions
Had Blondie taken a different musical detour than their disco transgression, they’d have sounded a lot like Elastica. “The Radio One Sessions,” which culls material the Brit garage-punk troupe recorded on the BBC in the 1990s, portends to be a de facto “best of” album. Unfortunately, it excludes the best material from Elastica’s under-appreciated sophomore album “The Menace,” not to mention the group’s biggest U.S. hit, “Connection.” Still, what’s here is a reminder of a band that teetered on stardom before it eventually toppled over.
