A woman was killed and 10 servicemen were injured when a car blew up Tuesday in the commercial center of a southern Russian town near Chechnya, officials said.
Russian news agencies reported that a cadet had later died in the hospital, but that could not be confirmed.
Police in Vladikavkaz, capital of North Ossetia region, told Reuters that the car exploded as a truck carrying police cadets passed by; security officials said it was “a terrorist act.”
North Ossetia was the scene last August of an attack on a military hospital by a suicide bomber driving a truck full of explosives. Fifty people were killed in that attack.
