Five-time U.S. gymnastics champion Blaine Wilson said he hopes to be training within six weeks after having surgery Tuesday on his torn biceps, and he still intends to compete in the Athens Olympics.

Wilson will rehab for the next four to six weeks. He already was in the gym Thursday riding a stationary bike and doing exercises to maintain his core strength.

The Olympic Trials are June 24-27. If Wilson isn’t ready, he could petition for an invitation to the Olympic team selection camp in mid-July.
