Because of the media feeding frenzy surrounding him and his team, a throwaway line by Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was lopped up and regurgitated as fact. No, he has not undergone Lasik eye surgery, as he jokingly said after the Eagles beat Detroit on Sunday. That’s right–he was just kidding, just offering a playful explanation for his hot start. That did not stop some national outlets from taking this supposed fact and running with it. Even a Philadelphia-area print reporter was fooled; he began asking Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera about McNabb’s faux surgery Wednesday, before his ink-stained brethren told him McNabb had been taking a stab at humor.
