It’s difficult to bid farewell to the first brief encounters with 70(degrees) temperatures each year, even for a short period of time. Those first mild days of the season prove to be a real treat after winter’s chill. 2005 has seen more 70s than usual–six to date this year; four of them this month! Since 1928, only seven Aprils have produced as many 70s here in the month’s opening 13 days. Although chilly air has flooded back into the area, there is good news. Mild air isn’t likely to stay away more than a few days. The current late season chill is to ease modestly Wednesday with the return of sunny skies. And, lighter easterly winds Thursday and Friday should permit readings to continue rebounding slowly–reaching the low 60s inland Thursday and low 70s away from the lake Friday (lake winds will continue to limit shoreline warming ). But these temp increases are only the beginning. More impressive warming arrives this weekend and current projections suggest 80(degrees) readings could return late Monday.
