A Naperville woman and her live-in boyfriend were jailed Friday, charged with abusing a 10-year-old relative of the woman, authorities said.

Jacqueline J. Ingram, 21, and Dominic T. Johnson, 23, were charged with two counts of child abuse, police said. By Friday, Ingram had posted 10 percent of her $20,000 bail and was released from custody, but Johnson remained in the DuPage County Jail. Bail for Johnson was set at $100,000.

Naperville police said the boy used a cellular telephone to call them to the 1500 block of West Jefferson Avenue Thursday evening. He reported he had just run away from home after being beaten with a belt by the woman, who is his guardian, and her boyfriend, police said.

Numerous whip marks were found on him when he was examined at a hospital, police said. He was released Thursday evening, and the Department of Children and Family Services helped place him in the care of another relative.

DCFS has not had any prior contacts with Ingram or Johnson, a spokesman said.
