Three men who didn’t want to face the repercussions of a car accident improvised a solution, prosecutors said Sunday–they kidnapped the driver of the other vehicle.
Sergio Sauceda, 19, and Arturo Ayala, 23, kidnapped a 47-year-old Southwest Side man after the accident Friday night because they didn’t want to deal with an insurance company, Cook County Assistant State’s Atty. Susan Horner said.
The third man in the car was not in court Sunday and not identified.
The victim was punched after being abducted and ordered to call his wife for money, Horner said. The man got away after he gave them $180.
His wife called police after the victim later saw the suspects in a vehicle. Chicago police arrested the men about 12:50 a.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of South Pulaski Road, court records show.
Sauceda, of the 9700 block of South Kolmar Avenue, Oak Lawn, and Ayala, of the 4400 block of West 31st Street, Chicago, are charged with aggravated kidnapping. In Bond Court on Sunday, Criminal Court Judge Raymond Myles ordered each held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
