Steve Stricker hasn’t given up on qualifying for the British Open. The former Western Open champion needed to finish seventh or better Sunday to rank high enough on the money list to get in. He also could have qualified as the top non-qualifier to finish in the top 10. A final round of 2-over 73 knocked him out of contention on both counts. “I missed a lot of greens, did a lot of scrambling and didn’t make a lot of putts,” he said. Stricker will play this weekend at the John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities, where he could make the British Open field as the top non-qualifier. “I have one more chance, next weekend,” he said. “It’s not done yet. This wasn’t a last-ditch effort, but it’s getting close. I need to have a good week next week.”
