Wen my daughter was about 8 months old, I had her curly, long hair down and a woman (white) asked if her hair was extensions. (“Is this your real hair,” July 14 column by Phillip Thompson.) The woman had seen my daughter on numerous occasions, but her hair was usually tied back in a ponytail because of the length of it. I couldn’t believe she asked me if my 8-month-old baby was wearing extensions!
