Daunte Culpepper took another step on his comeback trail, shrugging off the first real hits he’s taken since undergoing knee surgery and helping Miami to a 13-10 victory over Tampa Bay.
Culpepper played into the second quarter, completing 7 of 9 passes for 86 yards and led a touchdown drive.
– Ben Roethlisberger started the Steelers’ exhibition against Minnesota despite a strained right thumb ligament, then was pulled after throwing a touchdown pass. Playing one series for the second week in a row, Roethlisberger went 3 of 4 for 30 yards with a 16-yard touchdown pass.
– Matt Leinart entered Arizona’s game against New England with 1 minute 9 seconds left in the first half. He promptly drove the Cardinals 54 yards to set up a field goal, scrambling for 29 yards on two runs and completing 3 of 6 passes for 20 yards on the drive. He finished the game 4 of 11 for 49 yards.
