A 28-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday morning when he jumped five stories from the window of a Near North Side apartment after he was stabbed by another man, who then threatened to shoot him.

The victim and the 26-year-old assailant apparently were seeing the same 25-year-old woman, Chicago police said.

The attack occurred at about 11 a.m. in the fifth-floor unit at the Marshall Field Garden Apartments, 1450 N. Sedgwick St.

The victim was stabbed in the back four times, Near North District Capt. Leo Crotty said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Wednesay, Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado said.
