A Wauconda man shot in the head by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy Wednesday has been charged with residential burglary.
Angel Colon, 27, whose last known address is on the 300 block of Oakwood Road, is accused of forcing his way into his brother’s Wauconda home about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday and stealing two handguns, police said. Colon’s brother gave police the license plate number and a description of the red Chevrolet Corsica that Colon was driving, police said.
A sheriff’s deputy saw the car a short time later in Grayslake, near Illinois Highway 120 and U.S. Highway 45, and a chase ensued, police said.
The chase ended in Park City near Barb Avenue and Teske Boulevard, when Colon ran from his car, police said.
He was shot after he stopped and pointed his gun at a Park City police officer, police said.
Colon was at a Milwaukee hospital Thursday evening recovering from his injuries, police said.
