R. Kelly already believes he can fly, but now he’s trying to persuade others to “Rise Up” in the aftermath of the nation’s worst school shooting.
Kelly has written an inspirational anthem called “Rise Up” about healing after the Virginia Tech shootings, according to The Associated Press. The new tune will be available for download May 15, and all net proceeds will go to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, which provides assistance to those affected by the shootings and is the university’s official fund.
Kelly learned of the news while on tour, according to his Web site, and was so moved that he was motivated to write something. For a sample of the clip, visit r-kelly.com.
