* A story on Page 1 of Thursday’s Business section incorrectly identified the location of Macy’s warehouse on the Northwest Side and when Marshall Field’s had moved into the building. It is at 4000 W. Diversey Ave. The warehouse was built in the 1930s and Field’s moved into it in the 1960s.
* A community calendar listing in the Northwest Metro section on Thursday gave an incorrect day for the Raue Cultural Festival and Bob Blazier Walk-Run in Crystal Lake. The events are Sunday. The walk-run will have events starting at 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., and the festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* A story in Thursday’s At Play section on political action groups misstated a woman’s age and the day of a social mixer. Nicole Scardigno is 32. The Chicago Young Republicans held their membership mixer on a Friday.
* On Page 24 of Wednesday’s main news section, a caption for a photograph of protesters during the immigration march on Tuesday misidentified the street shown. It was West Jackson Boulevard.
* A main news section story Sunday erroneously reported that the Council on American Islamic Relations was among the groups criticizing the documentary “Islam vs. Islamists: Voices from the Muslim Center.” The group did not take a position on the film.
* A story on Page 3 of the Business section on April 28 overstated the amounts the top five executives of Tribune Co. would receive if they were to leave the company in the wake of Tribune’s $8.2 billion deal to take itself private in partnership with Chicago billionaire Sam Zell. The correct totals for each of the five executives, including stock holdings accumulated over long careers, vested options and restricted stock, bonus amounts, and severance payments are: Dennis FitzSimons, chief executive, $38.3 million; Donald Grenesko, senior vice president of finance and administration, $17.3 million; Scott Smith, president, Tribune Publishing, $16.7 million; John Reardon, president Tribune Broadcasting; $9.8 million; Luis Lewin, senior vice president of Human Resources, $5.6 million.
Additionally, the story incorrectly stated that FitzSimons and Grenesko could voluntarily leave the company and receive their severance payments if they did so in the 13 months after the deal closed. In fact, they can only leave voluntarily in the 30-day period following the first anniversary of the close.
The Tribune regrets the errors.
* Timothy J. McNulty’s column on the April 27 Commentary page quoted a letter writer comparing the cost of the Iraq war to potato chip consumption. Some readers took it literally. McNulty provides the numbers in today’s column.
