A 6-year-old boy was reported in critical condition Tuesday night after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle while he was near an ice cream truck in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, police said.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Cortland Street, said Chicago Police Officer John Mirabelli.
The boy was taken to Children’s Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition, Mirabelli said.
The driver of the SUV, Maria Carrasquillo, 46, of the 1800 block of North Kildare Avenue, was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a roadway, driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance, Mirabelli said.
