J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, will meet with schoolchildren in New Orleans, Los Angeles and New York in October, her first U.S. book tour since 2000.
Rowling also will hold an Oct. 19 event at New York’s Carnegie Hall for 1,000 readers. Tickets will be awarded in a sweepstakes. Rowling’s U.S. publisher, Scholastic Inc., will post details July 30 on www.scholastic.com/harrypotter.
In a posting on her Web site, the author says that at each event, she will read from her latest novel — “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the final book in the Potter series — answer readers’ question and sign books. “Deathly Hallows” is scheduled for release July 21.
