Sting isn’t the worst singer in all of rock — he just writes the worst lyrics, according to Blender magazine.
The music mag put the former-turned-current singer of The Police at the top of its list of “The 40 Worst Lyricists in Rock.”
“Mountainous pomposity, cloying spirituality, ham-handed metaphors: He can do it all,” Blender declared on its Web site.
But don’t worry, Sting (not that you would, seeing as you’re probably swimming in money right now), you have company. Blender calls out Paul McCartney, Alanis Morissette and even Common, mocking the Chicago MC’s lyric: “I’m your worst nightmare squared/That’s double for [people] who ain’t mathematically aware.”
