A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder for allegedly being at least one of the people who fired shots in gang crossfire that killed a 10-year-old boy in Englewood last week.

Arthur Jones was killed in the 800 block of West Garfield Boulevard when a fight broke out between rival gangs, police said.

Arthur, a 5th grader at Holmes Elementary School, was shot in the neck as he and a friend went to a store near his home Wednesday.

Two teens were charged Saturday with providing the gun that killed Arthur, but police still were looking for the gunman. Lesean Jackson of the 5100 block of South Union Avenue was charged Tuesday and was expected to appear for a bond hearing Wednesday in the Cook County Criminal Courts Building, said Andy Conklin, a Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokesman.

Police have said they don’t think Arthur was the intended target.

Arthur, the youngest of nine children, loved professional wrestling and, family members said, wanted to be a pastor.

The Englewood community has been grief-stricken and outraged over the death of the boy. Church and school leaders offered a $15,000 reward Thursday for information about his slaying.

Arthur, known as AJ, was headed to a convenience store with his best friend after school to buy candy when he was shot. He heard the shots ring out and tried to run but didn’t make it, family members have said.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 4543 S. Princeton Ave.
