Two teens were shot, one fatally, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood late Sunday afternoon.
The teens, a boy and a girl, were walking west in the 1200 block of West 48th Street shortly after 4 p.m. when a white vehicle stopped and several people jumped out and opened fire, police said.
When officers arrived, the girl was lying on the sidewalk unresponsive. She was taken to the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, where she later was pronounced dead. The boy, who suffered a gunshot wound in the leg, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
The ages of the victims were unavailable Sunday night, police said.
The assailants fled in the vehicle heading north on Elizabeth Street.
