Mike Huckabee is different and is to be prized. He means what he says and says what he means. He stands by his word.

He proved his competence by successfully governing Arkansas. When he left office after 10 years, he prudently left a healthy state revenue balance sheet.

Under his leadership, education improved with sizable increases in student scores. The salaries of teachers rose to make education competitive.

He pushed to increase bonding for a crumbling highway system. This was important to America, as well as our centrally located state, for travelers and for truckers hauling freight coast to coast.

He began the process of preventative health care in Arkansas.

He led another initiative for health insurance for poor children.

These victories were gained in spite of an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature and some far-right Republican legislators.

Mike Huckabee can balance budgets, run a campaign on nickels, plays a guitar in his country-rock-blues band, believes in art and music in every school, is the most technologically competent candidate in either party’s race, is cool and decisive in disasters and is “green” with a good record on conservation and tourism that’s grounded in common sense. He loves inventiveness and encouraging good minds to push for new ways of analyzing our problems.

Mike was not born to wealth, but he has gathered a wealth of competence and knowledge through practical experiences. He is very bright with a retentive mind.

He has used his 50 years wisely, to become a man who is ready to be president.

Oh, did I say he was funny, cheerful, civil and a genuinely happy person? He is.

I want to commend to you an “Everyman” for president. His name is Mike Huckabee.
