A 7-month-old boy from Hickory Hills who died Monday morning was a victim of child abuse, authorities said Tuesday.
An autopsy showed Carpediem Coffey died of blunt head trauma, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.
The boy was found unresponsive in a crib in his home, police said.
Kendall Marlowe, spokesman for the Department of Children and Family Services, said the agency investigated a case of abuse involving the family in October. Another child who was in the home has been placed with relatives, Marlowe said.
