After a group was kicked out of a South Loop restaurant early Monday morning, one man hit a Chicago police officer, police said
Darren Patton, 21, was charged with aggravated battery to an officer and resisting and obstructing an officer, Chicago Police Officer John Mirabelli said.
“When the officers attempted to talk to [the people asked to leave] … one of the individuals struck the officer, punched him in the face,” Mirabelli said.
Patton was with at least four others when the workers at White Palace Grill, 1159 S. Canal St., asked the group to leave at about 1 a.m. because they were disorderly, he said.
After allegedly punching the officer, Patton, 21, of the 900 block of North Springfield Avenue ran, he said. Officers quickly apprehended him, Mirabelli said.
