AMERICAN LEAGUE

Tigers 15, Rangers 2: Miguel Cabrera hit a grand slam, his third homer so far, and his six RBIs tied a career high. Armando Galarraga gave up a run and five hits in seven innings, striking out a career-high eight.

Yankees 4, Royals 1: Andy Pettitte gave up three hits in seven innings, and Jorge Posada delivered a two-run single. Pettitte struck out six and walked one. Sidney Ponson gave up all four runs in his Royals debut.

Orioles 5, Rays 4: Melvin Mora went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Adam Jones doubled twice and Mark Hendrickson won in his Orioles debut. Evan Longoria hit two homers for the Rays. George Sherrill got the save.

Twins 12, White Sox 5: Joe Crede homered against his ex-team, Alexi Casilla had three hits and the Twins rocked the White Sox’s bullpen for eight runs. Paul Konerko and Carlos Quentin homered for the hosts.

Blue Jays 13, Indians 7: Adam Lind and Marco Scutaro both homered and went 3-for-5, Lind and Alex Rios drove in four runs apiece and Scott Rolen had three hits as the Blue Jays kept the Indians winless.

Mariners at Athletics: Brett Anderson was to make his big-league debut for the A’s. The 21-year-old lefty was scheduled to pitch Thursday, but the game was postponed after pitcher Nick Adenhart’s death.

Red Sox at Angels: Angels righty Shane Loux hadn’t started a major-league game since 2003 with the Tigers. He is 1-4 with a 6.41 ERA in 21 appearances.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Brewers 4, Cubs 3: Ryan Braun’s grounder to short scored Rickie Weeks on a play at the plate in the ninth as the Brewers rallied for two against Kevin Gregg. Cubs starter Rich Harden struck out 10 in six innings.

Rockies 10, Phillies 3: Cole Hamels allowed seven runs and 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings. Jason Marquis allowed two runs in seven innings and went 2-for-3. Garrett Atkins homered and Todd Helton drove in three runs.

Marlins 5, Mets 4: Jorge Cantu singled with two outs in the ninth to score Emilio Bonifacio, who went 3-for-5 and is hitting .579. Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla homered. The Mets left 14 runners on base.

Cardinals 5, Astros 3: Ryan Ludwick homered and drove in two runs, Skip Schumaker had three hits and Joel Pineiro gave up only two runs in 6 2/3 innings. Carlos Lee hit a home run for the Astros in defeat.

Pirates at Reds, ppd.: Rain forced postponement of the series opener. No makeup date was announced.

Braves 6, Nationals 5: Kelly Johnson singled home Jordan Schafer from second with one out in the 10th as the Braves won a rain-delayed game. Johnson, Yunel Escobar and Brian McCann all had three hits.

Dodgers at Diamondbacks: The Diamondbacks’ Brandon Webb won’t start Saturday because of shoulder stiffness. Yusmeiro Petit will take his place.

Giants at Padres: The game resumed after a 51-minute rain delay in the seventh inning.
