AMERICAN LEAGUE

Blue Jays 7, Yankees 6: Ricky Romero extended his scoreless streak to 24 innings, Alex Rios hit a three-run homer and Scott Rolen extended his career-best hitting streak to 23 games.

Royals 4, Tigers 3: Mike Jacobs hit a go-ahead solo homer in the ninth and closer Joakim Soria held on. Willie Bloomquist drove in three runs for the Royals, connecting on a home run and a two-run triple.

Athletics 6, Red Sox 0: Rookie Brett Anderson threw the A’s first complete game since last July 8 and outdueled John Smoltz. Former Red Sox star Nomar Garciaparra had a pair of hits in his return to Boston for the first time in five years.

Rangers at Angels, late: Angels starter Jered Weaver has allowed 16 runs in his last three starts, after allowing just 21 in his first 13 outings. At home he’s 5-1 with a 1.83 ERA. Kevin Millwood gets the start for Rangers.

Orioles at Mariners, late: Jarrod Washburn makes his second start against the Orioles. He lost 1-0 to them at home on June 1. Brad Bergesen gets the start for the Orioles, whose bullpen lost a four-run lead in his last start against the Red Sox.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Cubs 4, Braves 2: Derrek Lee hit a two-run home run in the first inning off Jair Jurrjens and the Cubs added two more in the second. Randy Wells pitched six innings and allowed two runs and seven hits to improve to 4-3 for the Cubs. Kosuke Fukudome had a pair of hits and scored a run.

Phillies 22, Reds 1: Shane Victorino and Greg Dobbs homered off Johnny Cueto in a 10-run first inning for the Phillies. Cole Hamels pitched seven innings, allowing three hits and one run. Hamels picked up his first win since shutting out the Dodgers June 4.

Astros 4, Pirates 1: Miguel Tejada and Geoff Blum drove in two runs apiece and Mike Hampton allowed one run and three hits to improve to 14-3 with a 2.20 ERA in 20 career starts against the Pirates dating to 1995 with 10 consecutive wins.

Rockies 1, Nationals 0: Jason Marquis pitched eight shutout innings to improve to 11-5 and Todd Helton drove in Clint Barmes in the first inning with the only run of the game.

Padres at Diamondbacks, late: Jon Garland has lost his last six games and hasn’t won since May 19, a span of eight decisions in which he’s 0-6 with a 4.81 ERA.

Marlins at Giants, late: Matt Cain, winless in his last three starts, is still looking for his 10th win of the year. Cain has gone at least six innings in all but one of his 16 starts, the one being a rain-shortened game June 4.
