A man offering to do tree trimming distracted a Skokie woman while another man entered her home and stole jewelry, police say.

Police said a man knocked on the victim’s door in the 4200 block of Bobolink Street last week and told the 91-year-old woman that he was doing other work in the area and could trim trees in her backyard. The robbery occurred when the woman went into the backyard, authorities say.

The victim told police that the two men drove away in a black vehicle with Michigan license plates and that she did not discover the theft until after they were gone.
