New City Clerk Susana Mendoza is asking companies who’d like to get their name on Chicago city stickers to offer up ideas on how such a sponsorship could work.
The winning bidder could get a spot on the nearly 1.3 million vehicle stickers issued every year as well as on renewal notices, envelopes, a website and brochures. And the city would get some much-needed money.
The sticker sponsorship push is meant to fulfill a campaign promise Mendoza made.
“This is an opportunity to potentially bring in millions of dollars in new revenue to the city and hopefully at least hold the line on city sticker fees and dedicate the funds to infrastructure improvements and other pressing city needs,” Mendoza said in a statement.
The deadline for submitting ideas is Sept. 19. Information on the process is at chicityclerk.com.
