RHP Carl Pavano had one of his best starts of the season on Saturday, allowing two runs in six innings in the Twins’ win over the Brewers. Pavano, who worked with a soft-tissue specialist in Minneapolis last week to relieve pain in his sore shoulder, struck out six batters and had more velocity on his fastball than he has in recent starts.
INF/OF Trevor Plouffe hit his third home run in four games on Saturday, putting the Twins ahead for good in their win over the Brewers, and started at third base against the Brewers on Sunday. Manager Ron Gardenhire called Plouffe a “super-utility player” on Sunday, but said no matter where Plouffe plays, he needs to round out his offense; his homers have been his only three hits in his last three games.
