Ald. JoAnn Thompson, 16th, is “resting comfortably” and “doing fine” this morning after she collapsed due to exhaustion Sunday night, according to the alderman’s office.

Thompson was enjoying music and mingling with festival-goers when she collapsed at the fifth annual 63rdStreet Music Festival on the South Side near her office.

Paramedics were called to 63rd and Peoria streets about 7:55 p.m. Sunday and took Thompson to Rush University Medical Center, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

Thompson is expected to make a full recovery and to be back working soon, the alderman’s office said in a news release.
