A Thursday argument between a 21-year-old Chicago man and his grandmother’s boyfriend led to the grandson killing the boyfriend by stabbing him six times, prosecutors said in court today.
Judge James Brown set a bond of $2 million at Monday’s hearing for Julien Williams, who faces first-degree murder charges in the stabbing death of 52-year-old Kenneth Alexander of Park Forest Thursday in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
Prosecutors said Williams had quarreled with Alexander, his grandmother’s boyfriend, at a home in the 7000 block of South Artesian Avenue Thursday. The argument escalated, and Williams stabbed Alexander six times in the chest.
Williams, of the 6900 block of South Ada Street, called 911 and told dispatchers he had just killed Alexander, but he was not at the scene when police arrived. He turned himself in at the Central Area detective bureau Friday.
As he was led into the bond hearing today, Williams mouthed words to a woman seated in the front row of the courtroom gallery until he was ordered to face away. Wearing a white, disposable prison jumpsuit, Williams bounced on his toes as he waited to go before the judge.
As he was led out of the courtroom, Williams shouted “I need a lawyer, man! Please!” before throwing himself to the floor. He rolled on the floor, wailing, until bailiffs carried him out.
