Former Chicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee has sold his three-bedroom condominium in a Gold Coast tower — after more than a year on the market — for $1.025 million.

A fan favorite, Lee, 37, was with the Cubs from 2004 until 2010, when the Cubs traded him to the Atlanta Braves. He has since played for the Baltimore Orioles and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He became a free agent at the end of last season but did not catch on with a team this year.

Through a bank trust, Lee had paid $787,500 in 2004 for the 3,300-square-foot, 12th-floor unit from the developer of the 16-story building constructed in 2003.

Features include 3-1/2 baths, two fireplaces, hardwood floors, three private terraces and a master suite with his and hers walk-in closets and spa bathroom.

Lee first listed the unit in April 2011 $1.35 million. At the time the unit sold Thursday, its listing price was $1.215 million.

Lee’s listing agent, Julie Bouchard of Bouchard Properties, declined to comment on the sale.

The identities of the buyers are not yet listed in public records.
