If New York City voters elect as their leader a liar and cheater like Anthony Weiner, they will get the government they deserve and will sacrifice their right to complain when he commits impropriety while in office.
It is breathtaking that the wife of this scoundrel, Huma Abedin, stood by his side as he was forced to admit that he failed to learn his lesson, continuing to engage in bizarre sexual misconduct after being humiliated and forced to resign from Congress. He has betrayed and humiliated her on the national stage multiple times, yet she believes in him. Good God!
How many opportunities is one provided to engage in such shenanigans before they are deemed permanently unsuitable for high office? Are there no honorable individuals who live decent lives that are available to serve in such an important and revered position as Mayor of New York City? Is it too much to ask that a married man who seeks the office be someone that is faithful to his wife and not be a potential candidate for blackmail?
When Mr. Weiner addresses the media, do any of its members believe anything he says?
