One thing to know about us
We are the Picture Book Club. Our club has two members so far, Imani and Jasmine, as well as our leader, Arlene.
Our meetings
We meet the third Wednesday of every month at Beverly Branch Library. When we gather, we take turns reading the book out loud, and try to do creative activities that correspond. We had a plastic caldron and paper cutouts of the ingredients necessary when we read “Stone Soup” by Jon J. Muth.
We liked
“The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss, “He Came With the Couch” by David Slonim, “Dinosaurs Before Dark” by Mary Pope Osborne, “Ceci Ann’s Day of Why” by Christopher Phillips, “My Very First Mother Goose” by Iona Opie
We loved
“I Go Places: A Fun Sticker Book” by Lynn Brunelle.
We didn’t like
“Sometimes You Get What You Want” by Meredith Gary and Lisa Brown
Our least favorite character
The witch from “Who’s There on Halloween?” by Susan Hagen Nipp and Pamela Conn Beall
Author we’d like to meet
Jane O’Connor — to ask her why she writes books.
Up next
“Mummies Made in Egypt” by Aliki, “Fancy Nancy Sees Stars” by Jane O’Connor
